- Turkey Plans New Regulations for Crypto AssetsJan 19, 2025
This could be a good time to set up informal P2P transactions. Like, if the rules get harsh, at least we can still find ways to profit without getting too stuck.
But why have so many bought BTC through ETFs if they’re not real? BlackRock’s reputation attracts people who want quick profits without the crypto hassle.
That’s why it’ll sell. More money in the stock market than crypto, and for some, buying an ETF is less of a headache than managing their own Bitcoin.
Exactly, they probably wanted solid evidence before grabbing him. Plus, going after the customers too makes sense. Get the whole operation, not just one dude.
Oh, I see what you mean now. They used their skills for this manipulative scheme? They’d be perfect for a role in Ethereum instead of prison.
Is there a simple way to get this? Did they hijack the blockchain to swipe fees? I’m a bit lost.
True, but I'm curious about their technique. They pulled this off so quickly, and the government was on them in no time. Maybe they had insiders that tipped them off?
I beg to differ. Yes, I have been criticized for hiding missing bitcoins. But in Japan, most charges lead to a guilty verdict. The Bitcoin Foundation fell apart on its own.
You’ve already laid out the main reasons against this in your post. It’s essentially theft. More exchanges have been hacked since MtGox and lost customer funds too. Why not recover all that? What about retail investors?
This situation is pretty unique for a bunch of reasons.
What’s your best argument against it? Those coins have sat there for 15 years, everyone knows they’re from the hack, and some people are trying sneaky ways to claim them in court. Giving them back to MtGox customers…
I'm just trying to get a convo going. We've seen Ethereum do something similar with the DAO hack, which led to a fork. In the end, they made the call to help the folks who got hurt.
Just put out a pull request on Bitcoin Core to talk about a one-time consensus that could help recover around 79,956 BTC taken during the MtGox hack back in 2011.
