Hey everyone! I’m looking for some solid advice here. I’m not super into mining yet, but I’ve got a 1000-acre farm where I mainly grow barley and some local grass. I'm planning to set up an anaerobic digestion plant and want to use the power it generates for crypto mining. My farm is in East Africa, and there’s livestock farming nearby too.
Utilizing Excess Power for Crypto Mining

Honestly, mining sounds like a decent use for that power. But why not think about powering local villages? You could make a steady income from that instead of chasing crypto profits. More reliable, right?
Thanks for the input! The generator I’m looking at is rated for Prime Power usage and can produce 1MW. I just need to ensure we feed the digesters properly. I’ve got a flexible payment plan set up, and while I can only afford a couple of ASICs right now, the plant can support way more.
You’ve got funding for a digestion plant but can’t spare cash for mining gear? Seems off to me. If you’re short on ASIC money, maybe consider starting a mining hotel instead. Sell power to miners and use those earnings to build your own rigs.
If you really know crypto mining, maybe find an investor. But building a mining rig takes a lot of planning: equipment, electricity, internet, and more. Plus, it won’t pay off immediately. Just curious what drives you to get into mining.
If you sell power to miners, you don’t need mining knowledge at all. Just show them where to connect to the transformer and set up electricity meters. They can handle the rest.
I totally get what you’re saying. It’s just that my current setup can only afford a few ASICs, but the plant can definitely support more. Building a mining hotel sounds interesting.
If you can find a way to manage that excess power and show it’s reliable, you might stand out. Prove that waste power can efficiently run for a month or so. That’s your ticket to attract investment for powering mining rigs and cooling.
