Just saw some water cooled miners from BitAxe/NerdAxe. They use the same cooling tech as gaming PCs. Are these water cooled miners actually better than the fan cooled ones?

Water cooling is definitely more efficient. You can push higher overclocking too. But yeah it costs more and if something breaks, finding parts is a hassle.
Water has a higher heat capacity than air, so it's better for cooling. But water is also conductive, which is risky for your components because of potential short circuits.
Honestly, I think water cooling for BitAxe is just not worth it. You can underclock it and save money. Why go for a setup that barely improves earnings?
I get the concern about miner lifespan, but I've not seen many BitAxe failures due to air cooling. Problems arise regardless, so I’d stick with air cooling unless you really want the fancy setup.

Anyone got stats on liquid cooling failure rates? I notice a lot of folks prefer air cooling for easier management. I live in a hot area too, so curious if that changes anything.
I wouldn’t waste money on expensive thermal paste for miners. For laptops and PCs, the temp difference is minor, like under 5 degrees.
Heard that ready-made mining containers have their downsides. Water cooling can be set up with plastic pipes and pumps, plus you can use it for heating stuff at home. Air cooling is simpler and cheaper though.
Water cooled miners are quieter but more complicated. Fan cooled ones are easier to manage and good enough for smaller setups like BitAxe.
