Nikkei dropped some news about Japanese pension funds starting to put around 1% into crypto. This involves a bunch of small and medium companies. CEO Fumihiro Arasawa thinks this could be a big deal for institutional money in the crypto space.

Great, but let’s be real. They could be jumping into other cryptos, which could end up being a disaster. Only Bitcoin has proven itself long-term. Why take the risk?

1% is weak. If they’re thinking of long-term growth, they should at least aim for 5%. Bitcoin’s been on an upward trend; they should capitalize on it.

Right? Focusing on Bitcoin makes more sense. This allocation is a good start, and maybe they’ll increase it later as they see the benefits.

It’s awesome to see this from Japan, especially with their currency issues. Other places might follow suit. I guess they’re being cautious, dipping their toes in with that 1%.

But don’t forget, it’s not really Japan doing this. It’s a private fund in Japan. 1% of $136 million is like pocket change just over a million bucks.

True, but it’s still a start. Many investors wouldn’t even take the risk for just 1%. If they wanna go for it, let them.

You can’t ignore that some altcoins have outperformed Bitcoin. I mean, Solana had a massive return from 2022 to 2024. So, who knows?

I’m skeptical about the altcoins though. Japan usually knows what it’s doing, but why mess with the risk of shitcoins? Just stick to Bitcoin.

Totally agree! I’m curious about what they’ll invest in. Hope it's solid coins and not just hype-driven projects.

Long-term, focusing just on Bitcoin is way less stressful. I’d prefer they test the waters with Bitcoin only and see how it goes.

But what’s the basis of these projections? Just because it sounds good doesn’t mean it’s guaranteed, especially with Bitcoin. No one can predict the market.

More positive news but can’t say I see any real impact on the market yet. It’s like the media is ignoring these small wins.

I think they have a good system in place to prevent fraud. This could help them take advantage of crypto’s unique position compared to traditional assets.

Diving into shitcoins is risky. They should stick with Bitcoin or at least the top 5. Aiming for moderate returns over risky gains makes sense.

Not a fan of using workers’ funds for crypto. Too volatile and risky. Even 1% can turn into a problem when the market dips.

Japan seems to recognize crypto’s potential, especially for retirement funds. I hope their cautious approach influences others.

This 1% is tiny, but it’s a smart move given the current crypto slump. They’re probably picking very safe options.

$1.3 million is still a decent amount for a private fund. They’re looking for ways to diversify, but I hope they’re careful with altcoins.

Good to see crypto gaining traction globally. More investments like this could strengthen Bitcoin’s position.
