There's this famous saying that goes:
First they ignore you,
then they laugh at you,
then they fight you,
then you win.
Seems pretty fitting for Bitcoin and crypto, right? I mean, all those "Bitcoin is dead" articles and the usual Ponzi scheme talk definitely felt like the laughing stage. And now with all these strict regulations coming in from places like China, we’re clearly in the fighting phase.
Are We Finally Gaining Ground in Crypto?

Yeah, that poem really resonates with us. From day one of Bitcoin, it’s been a battle, but we’ve pushed through so much already. Winning means more than just surviving; it’s about getting new allies on our side. Sure, decentralization is tough with the current powers that be, but we’ve proven we can withstand a lot and keep fighting.
I really think the politicians are starting to notice us. If they can’t beat us, they might just try to join us. HODL strong, folks!
But here’s the thing most voters don’t even care about censorship issues. Politicians will only pay attention during elections to shout about freedom and rights. Once they’re in power, it’s a whole different ball game. They stick to whoever helps them stay in that comfy spot.
What does ‘winning’ even mean though? For me, it’s about hitting my own investment goals. Sure, a lot of us share that, but for the community as a whole? We want Bitcoin to be recognized and used as it’s supposed to be. But honestly, will that ever happen? Those in charge want our support but aren’t about to give us everything we want.
Mass adoption is the key! If Bitcoin gets major support from the government, we could really make a difference. Politicians are definitely looking at us as a voting block now. They’ll craft laws that benefit us, but we just gotta figure out if they’re sincere.

Nah, I think you’re dreaming. Saying we’re winning is delusional. Four years ago, maybe? But now? With mixers being banned and all this KYC crap in crypto, it feels like we’re losing ground.

I get you. Politicians have a knack for lying. Just look at the upcoming elections; they’re gonna promise us the moon to grab our votes. But are there any US politicians openly supporting Bitcoin like some are against it? I only know of Miami’s mayor taking his salary in Bitcoin.
They just use crypto for votes and funding. Most users don’t even care about privacy; they want to profit. Centralized exchanges and ETFs don’t bother them. The government’s crackdown on exchanges in my country is making it tough to trade.

You realize we’re a tiny group, right? Active crypto users are barely a blip on the voter radar. Less than 1% of the global population. And we’re so divided maximalists, altcoiners, NFT traders it’s a mess.

Exactly. We’re not even really united. Many hide their crypto involvement. Privacy is a priority for a lot of us, so we’re not marching up to politicians to defend our rights.

I think our desire for privacy is exactly why we struggle to stand up for our interests. Once bigger players enter the scene, things might change, but we’re in a tough spot now.
That’s why we shouldn’t lean on politicians too much. Sure, they promise the world, but we need to support those who actually care about crypto, not just those looking for votes.
Politicians are great at sweet-talking to get votes but rarely deliver. They’ll use crypto hype for their gain, but can we really trust them to keep promises? If they don’t, it’ll backfire on them next election.
It’s like with any big change. People often can’t believe something so new will truly change the world. They stay safe and ignore the potential until it’s too late.
Totally agree. Many of us are careful about revealing our crypto activities. Keeping it low-key is often the safest route. But the big players coming into crypto is definitely raising its profile.
I get why some people think Bitcoin is a scam. They just don’t understand it and aren’t willing to learn. It’s tough when the government doesn’t help either. We need to face our issues head-on.
Absolutely. We have to give politicians a chance to prove themselves. Sure, they lie, but what else can we do? I think Trump could be better for crypto than Biden.

Honestly, you’re just hoping for something that might not happen. Just keep holding and accumulating coins. Other people’s opinions don’t matter; focus on your own portfolio.
Maximalists are losing the battle. Most are using centralized exchanges instead of self-custody wallets. They’re just not winning this fight against government pressure.
