If you're in the US, definitely talk to a tax attorney. Find someone who knows crypto well. They can help you figure out what expenses you can deduct and keep you safe from audits.

Yeah, brokers are gonna charge a premium right now with the market being what it is. If you see a broker offering big discounts, that’s usually a red flag. Just remember, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

You'd probably classify bitcoin gains as miscellaneous income when you cash out. Only what’s converted to fiat counts, not what's still in your wallet. If your mining expenses exceed gains, you can claim a loss too.
