Why do I always have a tiny balance left after selling?

Been trading BTC for USDT, and one thing keeps bugging me. Why is it that after I sell, I always end up with this tiny balance? Like, I sold a good chunk, but still see $0.908 left when I expected zero. Anyone else notice this?

Yeah man, it’s not just you. I've seen it happen on every exchange I use. It’s annoying. Just a few cents left hanging out there. Sometimes I wonder if they do it on purpose.

Right? I think it’s because exchanges set a minimum amount for spot trades. So if you try to sell an amount that leaves some fractions, it just doesn’t go through. You end up with those dust amounts.

Exactly! Those leftovers are the dust coins. It’s like getting change after buying something big but in crypto, it's just annoying little bits. I notice this mostly on p2p trades. Every time.

Totally agree, and those tiny amounts usually can’t be traded anymore. If the remaining balance is lower than the trading fee or minimum amount, it’s just stuck there. You’re basically rekt.

Yeah, you’ve got it. And on some exchanges, like Binance, you can convert those dust coins into BNB or whatever, which helps a bit. Just check under Assets -> Spot.

That’s true! But I’ve noticed the conversion fees can be higher compared to doing a market trade. So sometimes I just prefer to stick with spot trading to avoid those tiny leftovers.

It’s kinda funny. I once tried to convert everything and even clicked the max button, but still had dust left. Why can’t they just make it cleaner? This happens a lot.

Same here, man. I think it has to do with how each trading pair has a different minimum decimal point. Even trying to sell everything, you end up with a bit that doesn’t go through.

For real! And those dust amounts can be a pain. I just want to sell and not deal with leftovers. Plus, the transaction fees change with price fluctuations which adds to the confusion.

Right, and even after transferring funds, there’s still that tiny balance left. Sometimes I feel like these exchanges are just making it harder for small users.

I checked on two exchanges after what you said, and it’s true. Those decimal restrictions are real, not just a theory. It’s frustrating.

You got it! The minimum conversion amount is key. Like on Binance, you can only convert specific amounts without leaving dust behind. If you go over, you're left with some leftover.

It’s not always visible. Sometimes I clear everything, and my balance is zero, but other times, there’s always a little left. It’s just how exchanges operate.

Yeah, and it’s all about how the order is filled. If it’s not completely filled, what’s left might just be reserved for fees or something. It’s annoying but not a huge issue.

I feel like they do this to keep users engaged with their coins. Like, forcing you to hold something instead of clearing out completely. Feels a bit shady to be honest.

Right! It’s almost like they want to ensure we don't leave with nothing. Just enough leftovers to keep us around. Crazy how they work.

I’ve seen this on multiple platforms, and it’s becoming a trend. They keep those tiny balances to promote their tokens, but it’s just a hassle.

Totally agree, it’s not a big deal for daily traders, but for casual users, those small amounts can feel a bit unfair. We should have full control over our balance.

Exactly! And the fact that these dust amounts are predictable now means we just gotta live with it. Still, it’s annoying seeing them sit there.
