Anyone remember Faruk Fatih Ozer? He got sentenced to a ridiculous 190 years and 6 months for what happened with Thodex. Charges included fraud and money laundering. Crazy how he ran off with $2 to $2.6 billion.
Faruk Fatih Ozer Found Dead in Prison: What Happened?

So apparently he was found hanging in his cell... sounds like suicide. And that sentence? It’s not 190 years it’s over 11,000. Insane, right? Guess it’s no surprise he would take such drastic action.
Yeah, 11,196 years means he’d be stuck in there for life. I wonder if he thought he might get bail eventually. Maybe it could have been reduced or something? Still, gotta consider that someone might have wanted him dead.

Exactly! This is what they mean by high stakes in crypto. A CEO mismanaging funds and people losing their investments... it’s a mess. A presidential pardon could happen, but those investors? They might never forgive him.

I saw that in our local news too. That 11,000-year sentence just sounds wild! Here, you’d get like 20 to 40 years max for something really serious. But I guess being rich and in prison can mess with your mind.
Feels like the Turkish government is sending a message with that sentence. Reminds me of the AlphaBay founder’s story. Committing suicide instead of facing a long prison term? It’s hard not to think he could have been pushed.
Yeah, but what about the victims? They lost money, and now they hear this news. It’s sad, but honestly, no amount of money is worth your life.
When Thodex shut down, Ozer ran away to Albania. Pretty impressive he evaded capture for over a year. But when he got caught and sent back to Turkey, he faced the music. Still, I doubt many people will feel sorry for him.

I’m skeptical it was suicide. Maybe he was forced into it. If I had to pick between a slow death in prison or ending it quickly, who knows what I’d choose. But he definitely had a target on his back.
Doubt anyone was out to kill him, lol. 11,196 years is like a life sentence multiplied. With his crimes, he probably wouldn’t have gotten a pardon anyway. Looks like a suicide to me unless proven otherwise.
Honestly, I think a lot of exchange owners might be doing shady stuff with investors' money. If an investigation happened, I bet a ton of them would be implicated. But hey, if you keep your assets on exchanges, you kinda deserve it.
For real, between murder and suicide, suicide seems more likely. Who wants to rot in prison knowing they’ll never get out? Seems like a way out for a lot of people in his situation.

I doubt anyone is worried about a life sentence anymore. I mean, presidents can just pardon anyone. My real concern is about how he might have been treated in prison. People who got ripped off might find ways to get to him.
