So today, we had a 2-hour block delay from 06:03 to 08:02. Then there were 4 blocks found, and another block took 57 minutes. Anyone know if major mining farms shut down? Looks like the pools that found those blocks are Huobi, FUPool, AntPool, RawPool, and Binance... so I think they're still active.
But man, this isn’t just a today thing. There are block timestamps from June 8 to June 11 showing fluctuations… we had like 101 blocks in one 24-hour day and then 105 in another. Is this affecting the mean hash rate or what? Viabtc did outpace everyone recently.
Oh, and I heard China’s Qinghai Province is stopping mining operations. Not the biggest mining zone, but what about Sichuan and Yunnan? No clear rules there yet. Sounds like mining might shift to other countries, especially South America. Bitmain’s already considering moving abroad.
Looking at this, it seems like there were 6 blocks in the last hour! Maybe things are stabilizing? Still, long stretches between blocks are suspicious.
Right? It’s probably just down to luck and the hash rate being lower lately. Longer blocks happen more often when that’s the case. I mean, I explain probabilities all the time, and even I was surprised by those long blocks.
Also, some reports are saying that Xinjiang shut down mining due to some ‘rectification policy.' But then there’s hope that things might change after the CCP anniversary.
BTC.com seems to be having issues too with their miners not finding blocks. They lost a ton of hash power overnight; no clue what’s going on with them.
Yeah, this definitely lines up with the crackdowns. Some farms might be shutting down voluntarily, and Chinese media could be spinning the story. Short-term effects on price are possible, but no need to panic yet.
I thought this was a joke at first, but it’s kinda déjà vu. Last time we had a big drop was around 25-30%! Now we're looking at 100 blocks again. Why can’t we just go a couple weeks without drama?
