My Jade hardware wallet is set up, but I can’t figure out how to enable the passphrase. Do I need to reset it or what?

Which Jade model do you have? Just asking if you meant you never set a passphrase before and want to do it now.

It’s Jade. I see options for passphrase settings, but the keyboard isn’t popping up.

Jade does support passphrases. Haven't used it personally but check this link for some guidance. Maybe it’ll help you out.

Honestly, not sure where the issue is, but Jade's passphrase feature should work fine. I set up a new wallet a while back and was prompted about the passphrase. Go check the settings again.

I did! Under Passphrase Frequency, I set it to Always and Method to Manual. Still no keyboard to enter a passphrase... think I need a firmware update?

Not sure it's a firmware issue, but give it a shot if you're on an old version. I’m using an outdated one and it still works. Are you adding a passphrase to a wallet that’s already set up?

Yeah, it’s already initialized and has a seed. I probably did basic setup. How do I switch to advanced setup? Or should I just reset it? If I reset, do I need to re-enter the seed?

You’ll need to reset and do an advanced setup, making sure to enable the passphrase option. If your seed is backed up, you’ll be fine. You can recover your wallet if anything goes wrong.

Got it. That’s what I figured. Thanks a ton! I’d give you merit if I could!

Just a heads-up, adding a passphrase to an existing seed isn’t really possible. You’d end up with a whole new wallet and keys. If you want the passphrase setup, you’ll have to reset.

Make sure to back up your passphrase physically. You could lose everything if you forget it. Testing your seed and passphrase combo with small transactions is a good idea too.

You can also adjust how the passphrase works on your Jade. Check the help section for more info.
