I’m in the UK and I've got some BTC on Coinbase. The trading fees are high so I’m looking to move to another platform, maybe Kraken. What’s the cheapest way to do this without losing too much on fees?

So, you want to shift your BTC from Coinbase to Kraken, right? You could convert your BTC to a cheaper coin like BNB or DOGE, then transfer that. Once it’s on Kraken, just convert back to BTC.

Nah, you don’t need to convert it to another crypto just to save on fees. Many exchanges support multiple networks now. You should check if you can withdraw BTC from Coinbase using a cheaper network.

Good point! If Coinbase supports it, you might try withdrawing through a network like Solana or Aptos. That could really cut down on costs.

Converting could actually mess with your BTC value depending on market swings, so sticking to a direct network transfer is safer. If you wanna try something else, though, go for TRX.

Honestly, before doing anything drastic, check what the direct BTC transfer fees are. Lightning Network might also be an option for you both Coinbase and Kraken support it.

Yeah, this could be overthinking it. Just don’t want you to make mistakes trying to avoid fees that aren’t that high in the first place. Test it first with a small amount.

Which version of Coinbase are you using though? The basic version has crazy fees while the advanced one is way cheaper. Might save you some cash.

If you're trying to ditch Coinbase, consider buying BTC with tokens like TRX or XRP, send those to Kraken, and then convert back to BTC. You’ll find the fees much lower.

How much BTC are you transferring? If it’s a decent amount, like 0.1 BTC, a small fee might be worth it to keep things simple.

Find a buddy who can do the opposite transfer (from Kraken to Coinbase). That way, you can skip most fees on internal transfers.

Honestly, a better long-term solution might just be using a non-custodial wallet. You could avoid those annoying withdrawal fees and keep control of your BTC.

I don’t think it’ll be that expensive to move your coins. The higher fees usually come from trading, but for transferring, it should be reasonable.

When you take BTC off Coinbase, the fee is based on network costs. Those can change, but you’ll see the cost upfront. And yeah, check mempool for the current fees.

Good advice! You should compare the fees for transferring BTC directly vs converting to another coin and then switching back. It may end up being about the same.

I’ve no clue what the fees are in the UK, but converting to Litecoin and then moving might save you some cash. Just test a small amount first.

I feel ya, but it seems kinda confusing. It’s clear you’re new here. Just remember, keep your BTC safe. Don’t hold it on exchanges too long.

If you want to keep BTC and avoid fees, why not transfer it directly? The fees have been pretty low lately.

Curious if you’re trading actively or just using Coinbase to store your BTC. If it’s just storage, you might wanna move to a private wallet.
