So, has everyone seen the news? Coinbase might lose up to 30% of their revenue this week because of the SEC. Crazy, right?

Yeah, this whole thing started when the SEC charged Coinbase for operating without proper registration. It's a wild case, and honestly, I don't think it'll wrap up any time soon.

Exactly. Coinbase has some strong points on its side, thanks to the Ripple situation. But that staking stuff could really hurt them after what happened with Terra Luna.

@zasad@ I get that, but some experts actually think Coinbase might come out on top here. They’ve got big backers, like Blackrock. They might just flex their political connections to turn the tables.

True, but what if it goes to trial in 2025? That could shake the market a bit. Just imagine the headlines and all the drama around that.

I doubt they’ll win every charge, but if they can settle for a small fine, that's a win in my book. Plus, the SEC has a lot on their plate with other projects.

@zasad@ I don’t think a new SEC chief will shift things after the elections. Honestly, whoever wins, crypto regulation feels like it’s just getting started.

Yeah, the SEC tends to target the big players, which kind of helps them in the long run, doesn't it? Even if they lose now, they’ll be back stronger with regulations that suit them better.

Look at the US economy right now. There are way bigger issues than just crypto. A new president won’t focus on this little spat with Coinbase.

Yeah, but with the debt piling up, I can't see how the government can ignore any issues, especially with mid-terms coming up. They can't afford to upset voters.

True, but they’ve got military commitments all over. And yet, they can't solve the border problems either. It’s a mess.

@zasad@ Look, I get what you’re saying about the border, but it’s not just a “fictive” issue. There are real consequences to this influx of migrants.

It’s all connected, though. People come here for better wages, so maybe the US doesn't even want to fix the border. It’s like, who else will do those jobs?

But taxpayers shouldn’t have to foot the bill for that! And with the economy being what it is, they can't just keep ignoring the budget.

The US might have cash for military bases everywhere, but it seems like they can’t spare anything to secure the border.

And then you’ve got the SEC raking it in with all these fines they dish out. They could just make a deal with Coinbase and call it a day.

Totally agree. I can see them reaching some sort of agreement that works for Coinbase. Just like how Uncle Gary reluctantly signed off on the Bitcoin ETF.

Haha, yeah, that was a real tearjerker moment for him. But look, Coinbase is too valuable; they won’t just let them fade away.

@zasad@ Exactly. Even if they’re slow, I think Uncle Gary knows he can’t ban crypto outright. He’s losing ground.

And as long as crypto companies keep pushing back, I think they’ll get what they need eventually. 100% on that.
