Bitcoin runs on Proof of Work, and miners are the backbone, right? They fire up their ASICs to snag some blocks and validate transactions, aiming for profits today or down the line. Hey all, just stumbled upon this supposed first Bitcoin mining calculator. If you’ve been mining since the beginning and know of something older, drop the info, yeah?

Gotta say, I’m more into Kano’s tool at http://tradebtc.net/bitcalc.php. It’s spot on and super detailed. Totally recommend it.

There’s a bunch of them out there. Can’t remember the name of one that had a difficulty chart and ROI projections based on difficulty trends. WhatToMine is decent too.

I’m new to mining and I didn’t start until 2011, so I have to rely on my research. I found that calculator launched around 2010 using the Wayback Machine. So Kano’s tool came out a year later.

I wasn’t around in 2010 either, just started with BTC in mid-2011. Pretty sure I created my miner after that.

Do you think BTC mining will ever wrap up? Like will we hit a point where it’s just tiny fractions being mined?

BTC mining won’t end, though. Blocks will always need transactions in them. Once block rewards dry up, miners will just get transaction fees.
