I set up my own Electrum server and linked my wallet to it. I did this to keep my transactions private. But now, is it pointless to keep my old wallet?

Not really a simple yes or no here. It really depends on your goals and who you’re trying to hide from. If privacy is key, maybe ditch the old wallet. Old wallets can be a major privacy risk, especially if your machine gets hacked.

I think having your own Electrum server is a big deal for privacy. Moving BTC from an old wallet to a new one helps too. But if you used a public server before, they probably have your IP and transaction history.

So just to be clear, for real privacy, I should buy new bitcoins from a non-KYC source and send them to a new wallet on my server? Old coins can’t be truly private, right?

Exactly! Just remember, even non-KYC exchanges can track and share your transactions.

I want my wallet completely untraceable.

Wow, that’s some serious paranoia! You’re talking about hiding from everyone family, friends, the government, and even chain analysis firms. You’ll need Tor, a highly secure setup, and probably some complex tactics to avoid ever linking back.

It’s more than just running your own Electrum server. I set mine up too because I want to prevent other Electrum servers from linking my SPV wallet addresses. They can track all your addresses and transactions easily.
