Ohio Man Charged with Laundering Huge Bitcoin Amounts for Dark Web

Larry Dean Harmon got charged with laundering over 354k bitcoin, which back then was worth more than $311 million. Prosecutors say he was running a mixing service called "Helix" that helped AlphaBay's shady transactions. Crazy stuff.

Seems like a major wake-up call for all mixers trying to stay under the radar.

I get what you're saying, but the illegal part of his operation was the mixing for AlphaBay. Mixers can keep privacy intact, and should not all be painted with the same brush. They're just tools, not evil by design.

I think Harmon is on the hook mainly for not having a license in the US and the clear ties to AlphaBay. They didn’t charge him just for the mixing. It’s more about being an accessory to criminal activities. You can see it in his indictment.
