So the House is voting soon on this crazy bill that would force anyone receiving Bitcoin to report crazy amounts of personal info like your SSN and profession for any transactions over 10k. This is practically a ban on crypto unless you're using the big platforms.

Lol they actually think they're helping, huh? Like, this isn't gonna drive innovation offshore or anything. These politicians are so out of touch, I bet half of them can't even use a smartphone.

This bill is laughably weak. It's like trying to stop money laundering while setting a 10k limit. People will just find ways around it, it becomes easier to get around their own rules.

Exactly! They're making it harder for people to get into crypto. Instead of leading in innovation, they're just pushing everyone to avoid regulations. Guess they'll be lagging behind other countries even more.
Crypto companies are gonna bail if the government keeps this up. Sending SSNs like it's nothing? Come on, they clearly didn't think this one through.
How do they even plan to keep track of who’s a citizen? Bitcoin is meant to be anonymous, expecting to maintain oversight is kinda unrealistic.
I agree there's no real united front for crypto supporters in the US. This is just another step toward making the country a police state. I really hope this bill doesn't pass.
It would actually be hilarious if they banned Bitcoin outright. More for everyone else, especially in emerging economies. Keeps it away from greedy US corporations.
Yeah, you hit the nail on the head. They just want to target money launderers and tax dodgers, but who are they really helping? The economy's already in shambles.

How can a developed country like the US not embrace Bitcoin? They should be leading the charge, not drowning in old practices.

No surprise here. They want to regulate Bitcoin like they do with banks. Don’t be shocked if the limit gets lowered to 600 bucks too.

Haha America the land of the free, right? Economic surveillance is a joke. What real protection are they offering, though?
Biden’s supposed to be more crypto-friendly, but it looks like he’s doing the exact opposite. So much for freedom.
Structuring transactions to evade limits is going to be a crime now too? Sounds like a slippery slope. They'll just pass it under the guise of consistency with fiat.
People are slowly waking up to the truth, I think. George Carlin's words ring true, the government will go after your SSN next.
How will they even track Bitcoin transactions if you’re not using a KYC exchange? This is gonna be a nightmare for them.
There are ways to deanonymize Bitcoin users, but it’s not foolproof. Anyone using centralized exchanges is exposed to reporting.

Totally true. Bitcoin isn't anonymous, just pseudonymous. Once you connect it to your real identity, good luck staying hidden.

Yeah, we all know the bankers want to crush crypto. They’ll just delay the inevitable; the world is moving on.
Yeah, I’m from the US. I see some notable figures pushing back against this mess too. But where's the outcry from average users?
