Not a lawyer but I can spot a cease and desist! You’ve got my backing. If you need anything, just reach out!

Go for it! We definitely need legal experts around here. If any lawyers are lurking, please step up! I can't help much but I’m all for this!

I’m confused. If the logo is public domain, how can anyone restrict its use?

I maintain that I have original rights to the Bitcoin BTC logo since I designed it. So I can enforce trademarks in various places.

Wait, so you’re saying the logo is public domain? Because that would mean there's no copyright. And trademarks are a different ball game. Have you registered your trademark?

Have you checked what BSV folks claimed back in 2019? They reused the Bitcoin logo, just made a few tweaks, and said it was unique. It's like me saying I created the Olympic rings just because I changed the colors.

Totally. But using something public domain shouldn’t be a problem. Plus, the Olympic rings are trademarked, unlike the Bitcoin logo.

Believing that is kinda wild. Just ask any designer about this. Common sense should tell you something is off.

I think you're misunderstanding. A trademark lets a holder prevent others from confusing customers about their brand. Like if Dell called a computer 'Mac,' Apple would definitely have a case.

"Cease and desist notification(s) served to CSW / BSV re: the #Bitcoin #BTC logo." Anyone want to talk about if we have a case?

Interesting point! Satoshi didn’t support copyleft since Bitcoin is under MIT license. The original logo could be seen similarly.

How similar is that to this forum's icon? Could that impact how we use our logo?

Here’s a timeline showing I stand by my original design for the Bitcoin logo. My first post about it was in 2014.

Did anyone from CSW or Roger Ver reply on this? I’ve seen other coins using similar logos but with slight changes.

Not saying much right now. But honestly, I have a strong case about my original rights regarding the Bitcoin logo.

I think what you're doing comes off as petty and self-serving, honestly. Feels just like CSW.

The difference is CSW has no originality regarding Bitcoin while I clearly do! By the way, Satoshi warned against fake Bitcoin forks.

Satoshi was very clear about his stance on forks. We need to honor that, right?
