I just saw this crazy video on YouTube about an XRP holder who got hacked for like 1.21 million XRP. That’s about 3 million bucks. He said it was stolen from his ELLIPAL wallet. Just heartbreaking to see someone’s retirement plan wiped out like that. Makes you realize how key it is to be careful with your crypto.

Man, 8 years of saving, and just like that, poof! 3 million gone. That’s just brutal! Watching him struggle to hold back tears was tough. But seriously, how did this hack even happen? If he didn’t check his wallet often, how could he have clicked something sketchy? And how did they even breach a cold wallet?

Scammers are everywhere these days. One tiny mistake, and all your hard-earned money disappears. It’s terrifying to think someone is out there plotting to steal your retirement savings. We gotta be so cautious. This poor guy doesn’t even know how it happened, which is just sad.

I feel bad for him, but he’s been in crypto for over eight years. He should know how to keep his wallet secure. He used a hardware wallet, but I’m not familiar with Ellipal’s security. I really want to know how the hack happened!

Seems like he made some serious errors that he didn’t even realize. I think he was targeted long before the actual hack. Maybe malware was on his phone, or he imported his seed phrase into an app, turning his cold wallet into a hot one. Once online, the hackers just pounced. Ellipal is looking into it too.

Mixers can still be traced to some extent, so there’s a chance to track that amount down. But yeah, it’s sad to see this. Honestly, hardware wallets aren’t foolproof. Relying on obscurity isn't enough without proper security measures.

Importing the cold wallet seed phrase into an app was a huge mistake. If he hadn’t done that, he might’ve retired comfortably. It’s a hard lesson about securing your crypto.

Zach made a good point about the delay in reporting this to the cops. They could have helped, but maybe he thought reporting wouldn’t do any good since it wasn't a physical crime. Still, it’s worth trying!

Is this guy on Android? Because with iOS, it’s tougher for malware to sneak in. I only use iOS for anything finance-related because of how secure it is compared to Android.

Got an update! ELLIPAL responded to the guy’s email! He thought his wallet was cold, but he accidentally made it hot by importing seeds. Who knew the colors meant that? He’s trying to contact everyone for help. I hope he can recover at least some of his funds.

They mentioned he used an app, but which one? If it wasn’t the official Ellipal app, that’s a big oops. But honestly, with 8 years in the game, I doubt he messed that up.

Importing the seed phrase into a hot wallet was a rookie mistake. He probably didn’t realize how risky it was. It’s a tragic situation, but it highlights the dangers of hot wallets.

He clearly didn’t know that importing seeds would make his wallet hot. I think he just trusted the hardware wallet too much. It’s a hard lesson learned for sure.

Hardware wallets are supposed to be safe, but you still need to use them properly. There are so many ways to get scammed if you’re not careful.

Yeah, the police should act quickly on this. At least the FBI specializes in crypto fraud. This is a massive loss!

Some people think going to the cops will just lead to more headaches with questions. So he tried other ways to track his funds but wasted time. Losing such a huge amount can mess with your head.

This story is just so sad... I agree with the previous post. I’d never keep all my assets in one place.

If it were me, I’d split that 3 million across several exchanges and wallets. Maybe even stake some for extra income. Just letting it sit is a waste.

Exchanges can be risky too. They freeze accounts and create drama no one understands. The story shows how a small mistake can lead to huge losses.

I’m just replying to the title here... but do you think it was really hacked? Maybe he just misplaced his keys or something. Bull markets make holders vulnerable to phishing scams.
