I found some seeds in a csv file but they keep throwing invalid checksum errors. Some are wrapped in < and > signs and others have a * in front. What's up with that?
Examples:
"<word1 word2... word24>" checksum error
"*<word1 word2... word24>" checksum error
"*word1 word2... word24" checksum error
But "word1 word2... word24" works fine. Anyone got a clue?
Yeah, special chars like '*' aren’t part of BIP39. You or some tool probably messed up the seed words. They might be valid but mixed up or even some replaced words. Only you or the creator would know what’s wrong with them.
What recovery tool are you using? That asterisk could mean it’s compressed or encrypted, so make sure your wallet supports that. Also, the order is super important for BIP39.
With so little to go on, you might wanna check the list of WordPress plugins for crypto. Look for ones that create wallets or recovery phrases. But beware, 380+ plugins for bitcoin.
