So... whenever I run Bitcoin Core, my connection goes down the drain. Can’t even use other apps, like seriously. Even my phone shows "Connected, no internet"! Is that normal? When I close it, everything's fine again.
Sounds about right, it’s pretty heavy software. But I get you, maybe try limiting the download speed with something else. It hogs bandwidth while syncing, but once done, it could ease up.
Right? Like everything just freezes till I close it. I thought limiting the bandwidth would work. Maybe I should just run it overnight when I’m not using the internet. But man, it’s hitting like 15 Mbps! You think that’s slow? Lol.
Sounds more like a router issue than Core itself. Check if your modem is managing connections well. Bet you wouldn’t have the same issue with torrents.
Nope! I use qBittorrent and it never causes issues like this. Everything else works fine except Bitcoin Core consuming like it’s starving or something.
Wonder what speed you’re actually paying for? If Core is pulling 15 Mbps, there should be a bit of room for other devices too. Have you tried a wired connection instead?
Man, I know right! It’s a big deal when you’re web browsing, except for Facebook/YouTube. They probably use cache servers, so we don’t notice the slowdown. Could be that your ISP lacks a good cache.
If your devices lose connection while Core is running, that’s sketchy. Your router should be balancing traffic. Sounds like your modem might be the culprit.
Lol, I messed with the settings and now it's downloading everything again from scratch! What a pain. It’ll be ages at my slow speed. Been there with my old laptop, didn’t cause this mess.
Sounds like something has changed on your end. Speed tests can be misleading too, might not reflect your real-world usage. Could be modem troubles as others said.
Isn’t there a site or app for your ISP where you can check your plan? Different test results can happen based on server location. Your laptop might be the issue too.
There could seriously be an issue with your router handling all those connections. What type of internet do you have? DSL or cable? Each has its quirks.
Dude, Bitcoin Core on Windows is risky business. My stuff slows down too but I've got a solid machine 16GB RAM, Intel i7... I just run it on Linux now for better performance.
