Issues with Bitcoin Core Hogging Bandwidth

So... whenever I run Bitcoin Core, my connection goes down the drain. Can’t even use other apps, like seriously. Even my phone shows "Connected, no internet"! Is that normal? When I close it, everything's fine again.
