Not sure about you, but Taproot upgrades or even a new SegWit branch sound like solid ideas. Maybe even look into multi-signature methods.
Right now, we should just focus on getting signatures sorted out first.
Super cool to talk about ECDSA + SPHINCS+ and Merkle Trees but tbh, it feels like we’re just patching things up.

People are diving into curve collapse and log resolution. We don’t have time for outdated infosec practices.
Oh great, another FUD wave about supercomputers and QC? Can we stop the panic and just look at real progress in computing? It’s like the same old story every time.
Exactly! Seems like a lot of speculation still. Quantum computing isn't even a real threat yet.

I get what you're saying but don’t ignore the potential threat. Your complacency is the real danger.
Why’s everyone still overreacting about quantum computers taking down Bitcoin? They haven’t even really tapped into what quantum tech can do yet.
What’s the rush, though? I mean, yeah, there are talks about potential threats, but it’s not like one guy can solve this whole thing alone.
There's other classical problems that we should focus on first. By the time quantum becomes a real issue, we’d be ready for it.

I got into Bitcoin back in 2014 and we were having the same worries then! Hardware might be better now, but it's still not enough.
If we’re moving away from secp256k1 totally, then we might as well hard fork. No reason to keep SegWit either in that case.

Are they really going to just erase the only 256-bit calculator we have? There's still ways to make it safe, even if ECDSA fails.

I think thinking of quantum computing as a threat is overblown. Breakthroughs might actually improve security in the end.
We know that old wallets holding funds could be in trouble if the encryption breaks. What about those users?
So, worst-case scenario? All those wallets with exposed public keys could get wiped out. That’s not a fun thought.

We can’t keep waiting for everything to be perfect. The longer we delay, the worse it’ll get.
Yeah, and by 2025? Stakes are way higher. This ain’t just some casual argument anymore.
