A buddy of mine told me not to run my own BTC node. He had a rough time with it and thinks solo mining on pools is the way to go. Is he onto something?
Honestly, going for a pool with low fees beats dealing with your own node. Setting up a stratum server and all that jazz is a headache. Solo mining can take ages to find a block, while pool options like PPS or PPLNS pay out more consistently.
I’ve heard Caanan and Bitmain are solid choices for miners. You can find reviews from other users here too. Just be careful with sellers and delivery issues if you’re not getting it directly from the manufacturer.
You can trust your friend’s advice or think he’s just trying to hold you back. If mining solo was such a flop, why do people still do it? Might be worth exploring yourself, but hey, it could end badly too.
Totally relate to your friend. Setting up a full node is a pain, and it fills up your hard drive since you gotta download the whole blockchain. Just hitting up a pool is so much simpler. For solo mining, I’d suggest the Compact F USB stick miner.
