I just ordered a full immersion cooling system from DCX and I'm pumped for it to arrive. My plan is to fit 8 T17+ miners in there and max out their firmware. DCX gave me some tips on prepping the ASICs for immersion. Thinking about using mskminer.com or Asic.to for upgrades.
This is my first time trying this, so I’d love any advice from folks who’ve done it before. What’s the best way to prep the machines for immersion? Any firmware recommendations for the T17s?

I’d go with vnish (awesome miner) if I were you. It lets you monitor without extra fees, super handy since you're planning to overclock. Just be careful with the PSU rating. Some custom firmware needs a specific PSU, and the soldering can be dodgy. Make sure you're using high-quality fluid too.

Right now I’m just unboxing the kit and taking off fans and covers from the miners. Not sure how to share pics here.
Spent about 7k Euro on the setup. Tried posting pics but it’s tricky here. Planning to use some older T17s to experiment first, then upgrade to S19s if it goes well.
Mikey, I wanna know more about vnish too. I was thinking of overclocking with asic.to. Gonna take everything apart and give it a good clean with isopropyl alcohol before immersion.
Asic.to is actually vnish as well. They have different versions, but they all share the same base. The cool thing about asic.to is their support. AwesomeMiner lets you pay for monitoring within the firmware fees, saving you some cash.
So it really boils down to what features you want the most. But I think vnish is overall better than mskminer from what I’ve seen.

Planning to pull some T17+s for immersion and then upgrade to S19s. If the immersion system works out, I’ll expand and get better ASICs.
Nice video! How many miners do you have on each pipe? Those machines push about 500 cfm each, right? I’m wondering if the main pipe can handle it.
I’ve got 6 units on each pipe with 250mm pipes, and they each have separate exhausts. My farm’s in the basement, and the exhausts are at ground level. The airflow is solid. Initially thought about adding extraction fans, but they’re not needed it works great as is, and the machines stay cool all year round, even in hot summers.

Very cool! I looked into immersion cooling a while back, but it was priced way too high for me. Seeing these affordable units is exciting! I’d love to hear about your experience. I’ve been hesitant to try it myself because I worry about potential issues, but it sounds doable.
Interesting setup with the pipes! Are they just for venting heat, or can they be used for heating the house too? I’m really into this topic.

BUMMER! After sorting everything, I realized the boards have serial numbers and can’t mix from different cases.
Fingers crossed! Keep posting those updates and pics. I love following this kind of story. Hope everything goes smoothly and your miners run quietly and efficiently.
Don't sweat it! The stock firmware may be picky, but vnish doesn’t care about that serial number stuff. You can mix and match boards without any issue. Most custom firmware probably works the same, but I trust vnish.
And hey, I noticed a loose heatsink in one of your pics. Make sure to solder it back on, you can't skip heatsinks even with immersion cooling.

Quick update on the project. I got tired of messing with the T17+s with bad hashboards, so I'm selling them off and never looking back. I scored some Avalon 1166s from a closed farm in China only used for 3 months and still under warranty, so I'm diving into immersion with those instead.

Any recommendations for firmware upgrades for the 1166s for both immersion and air cooling?
Haha, I’m a newbie too! Thought the Bitmain S17/T17 series was a smart choice because of the price and efficiency. But after reading some threads here, I realized I messed up big time! Should’ve gone for T19 or a used Whatsminer/Avalon.
Also, I naively assumed ASICs were as reliable as GPUs. But even the best ASICs seem to fail at rates of 5%+ per year, while GPUs are more like 2-3%.
