Has anyone tried using the s21+ 235 th in immersion cooling after removing the fans? I want to set up six of these in a residential building, but air cooling is too loud. Thinking about one big alloy tank or maybe two smaller ones, and then dunking them into a bitcool tank. I’d have a pump setup with a 1-inch pipe into some car radiators outside, keeping them underwater below 14 degrees Celsius. But I heard the s21s don’t handle immersion well.

Yeah it’s my first go at this, but I’ve been checking things out for a bit. I can afford up to 6 s21 235th. I know people have done the immersion trick with s19s, but one supplier warned me that the s21s don’t like being submerged, which could mess things up for me. I really have to go with immersion to keep noise and heat down in my setup. Got a buddy with a truck radiator for the outside cooling.
That’s mainly about the ambient temp for cooling.
Those chips actually prefer being between 60-80C, and with liquid cooling, you’ll need a fluid in that range. If it gets too cold, they can get unstable. You gotta manage that fluid temp. With radiators in air, you just control fan speed; with fluid cooling, it’s all about controlling the flow of that final coolant through the heat exchangers.
I think the S21 can technically be immersed, but from what I hear, you’d end up using air cooling afterward. Why not just use newer models that are made for water and immersion cooling? Putting air-cooled ASICs into liquid can void warranties and lead to repair issues, you know?

If you stick with air cooling, make sure to check reviews on different models. The Bitmain Antminer T21 has some quirks you might want to address before you start mining. There’s already good firmware for the T series, and it’s a good idea to replace the factory thermal paste.
With some modifications, my t21s pull 17 watts per th.
I even listed three of them on eBay since I upgraded to the s21xp. Here’s my listing for the t21s.
First models had issues, chips would overheat and burn.
The manufacturer fixed that with firmware updates, throttling problematic chips. It’s a budget ASIC but you gotta know how to work around its flaws.
Just stick with air cooling, there are plenty of options out there.
If you do immersion, you can always switch back to air later if needed. Plus, it’s way easier to resell.
Nah, you’re completely wrong.
If you dunk an air-cooled ASIC in liquid and then try to go back to air cooling, you’re asking for trouble. People generally don’t do that, especially with newer models.
