Isn’t it wild how stock exchanges can just shut down whenever they feel like it? The UAE market did that recently for a few days to handle a big drop. I mean, it makes sense but that’s not real market freedom, right? I love that we can trade on-chain stocks 24/7 without any closures on weekends through platforms like Hyperliquid and Perpmate.

You bring up a solid point about closures. They do that to avoid total market crashes, which is in their service terms. It’s true that crypto doesn’t have those protections. But calling it freedom does come with a cost. It’s not that stock traders are scared of change; for many, it’s about the security of owning something tangible, like shares in Apple.

Yeah, those closures aren’t just about control. Sometimes it’s to calm the market down and give it a chance to stabilize during crazy fluctuations. I get why it seems restrictive, but the intent is to shield investors from panic and crashes.

On-chain stocks are cool for trading but real investors looking for long-term gains usually prefer traditional stocks. They want real ownership, and TradFi typically offers more liquidity. Plus, I kinda see the reasoning behind market closures to protect against unnecessary panic.

Right? Those forced closures, or circuit breakers, act like a timeout to help investors digest info and manage wild swings. This happens everywhere. Just recently in Indonesia, there was a trading halt after some directors resigned. They always say it’s to protect customers...

Not all TradFi exchanges are super strict though. Some, like Robinhood, have markets open 24/7. Sure, they still deal with breaks and traditional hours, but that’s just the norm for now. I doubt any system can handle tons of orders around the clock just yet.

I don’t think $1.436B daily volume on Perpmate and Hyperliquid is small at all. Sure, it’s less than TradFi, but give it a few years and that number will grow. Why stick to Trad stocks that can pause trading just because they feel like it?
