Cloud mining services are still popping up everywhere, even with all the increased difficulty and competition. Are there any legit options left for Bitcoin, or is it just a marketing ploy? Not looking for specific project names, just your thoughts on the whole scene right now.
Cloud Mining: Is It Still a Viable Option?

Making money with cloud mining is tough... half of them are just scams. The few legit ones have this clause where they can cancel your contract anytime. Imagine dropping 2400 bucks for a year and then they cancel when Bitcoin prices spike. You might break even but not the profit you’d expect.
Honestly, how can this be anything but a scam? If you already bought ASICs, why the hell would you need my cash? The whole idea of raising capital is to avoid risking your own funds. If you’ve already invested, just mine yourself.

Cloud mining has been a scam for ages. Why not buy your own ASICs and mine at home if you have cheap electricity? Sure, it looks good when you just throw money in and get back double, but unless you know the company, it's a huge risk.
Most big players mine on their own or attract investors. You really gotta know how to spot scams to find the good services. I mine myself, and my rate is 4 cents per kWh. If a cloud mining service is offering better rates, something's off.
People still fall for cloud mining like they do for Ponzi schemes... it's wild. Just steer clear of cloud mining. Most of those schemes hide behind the idea of passive income.
Anyone with cheap power and good ASICs wouldn’t rent out that power cheap. They'd want to keep all profits for themselves. I know some cloud mining services existed in the past, but they’re long gone.
There’s a pinned topic on this forum called Experiment: Cloud Mining the Loser's Path. They should definitely pin something similar here to share experiences.
Are you talking about renting hardware for Bitcoin mining or the cloud mining stuff that feels like a Ponzi? Renting hardware seemed legit at one point, but I heard the hash rate fluctuates, making it risky.
Not sure if it’s a good idea, but maybe someone should update the old posts and get them pinned. Could help new folks out.
I totally get it... just trying to find ways to avoid spending too much. I even rented hashrate before but ended up needing to buy an ASIC anyway. Cloud mining just doesn’t work like it used to.
You won’t find anything new in those posts. Their main goal is to get people to invest, then deceive them with complex contracts. Most don’t even read the fine print.
With Bitcoin prices where they are, many mining setups are losing money. So who’s paying for that in cloud mining? I had a bad experience where shipping costs were more than buying locally.

That's nuts. So if you can get it for $1k locally, shipping costs $1.5k? That can’t be right. I've heard about shipping being as much as the product, but that’s crazy.
Cloud mining’s legit options are rare these days. The network difficulty keeps climbing, and most contracts are set up for the provider to profit while we take the risks.
ASICs used to be cheaper, but shipping prices are way too high now. We just looked at profit stats and ignored the contracts. Shipping costs can be wild, like from China to Russia.

Cloud mining is basically a scam or just unprofitable. Legit cloud mining wasn’t even a thing back when it was easier to mine. Now it’s all about commercial setups.
"Cloud mining" usually ends up being a scam or turns into one. They don’t have real mining power. Just shiny numbers on a screen. If you wanna invest in mining, build your own rig or buy an ASIC.
Nah, you’re mistaken. I can name some legit companies from back then. It was profitable before mining became industrial. Now it could take ages just to break even.

I remember some legitimate companies, like hashnest, but that was a different game. People made money by trading hashrates. Many 'legit' companies were losing money, like genesis-mining. If it’s profitable, why would you offer cloud mining when you could just mine for yourself?
