Riot just sold off 3778 BTC. Crazy, right? Heard that MARA, Genius, and Nakamoto combined let go of over 15k BTC last week. But seriously, what's the big deal? Miners gotta sell to pay the bills, I guess.

Yeah but here's my thought...what if miners start hoarding their coins instead? Could signal a bull market ahead. Or am I just dreaming?

Seriously, though, the volume they're selling is pretty wild. Makes me wonder if they expect prices to drop further.

Holding might be smarter for profits in a bullish market but how do they manage costs without selling any BTC? They need money for electricity and equipment.

Not convinced this means a bull run. Only if a miner has cheap electricity would holding make sense. Most miners know they’ll make more if they wait.

Miners are cashing out to invest in AI tech and digital infrastructure, but isn't that a bubble too? 15k BTC isn’t huge for market impact though.

I think selling Bitcoin was a wise move with prices potentially going up again. But seriously, did they not see the downtrend coming before selling?

Nothing wrong with miners selling. They have bills to pay. It's their Bitcoin after all. Gotta sell to make profit. That's just how the biz works.

Exactly, mining isn’t just fun and games. It’s a business, and they have real costs, mainly electricity. You can’t just hold forever.

Miners are often stuck in contracts, can't just stop their rigs. It’s costly to turn off operations, unlike retail investors.

You’re talking about big operations, right? I don’t see those kinds of contracts being common everywhere.

In my country, getting power contracts is a hassle. Miners can’t exceed their limits without penalties.

In the US, it’s normal to lock in 1-5 megawatt contracts for years. That kinda stability helps miners.

Only someone who hasn’t mined would bash miners for selling. Most regular miners need to sell to cover costs. Like, electricity ain't free.

What’s cheaper? Mining at a loss or paying penalties? Some miners can’t afford to hold at current prices.

So if a miner locks in a contract, they prepay? Interesting model. But how does that actually work?

If you're paying 4 cents per kw, that's ideal for profit. Some companies out there get power pretty cheap.

No doubt, what they sold is just a drop in the bucket compared to total mining this year. Riot’s shifting focus to infrastructure too.

Why are they selling? Do they know something we don’t? If they’re selling that much, must be to keep the lights on.

Public miners unloaded over 32k BTC in Q1 2026. Insane numbers, right? Beats the previous records.
