I heard someone say they skip trading competitions because they think it’s just for whales with big money. Is that really true?
Are Trading Competitions Only for Whales?

There’s definitely a perception that whales dominate these competitions. Institutions and influencers can trade huge volumes while smaller traders can’t compete with that.
Yeah, it's almost all about volume in crypto competitions. You hit certain volume thresholds, and bam, you're on the leaderboard. Whales just have an easier time hitting those numbers.
Come on, we all know it's for whales. Why even ask this? It feels like you’re just trying to push some agenda here.
Whales also tend to have a different approach. They hold positions longer while retail traders might panic and trade too often. That can lead to worse decisions for the little guys.

Why so harsh? Maybe the OP just wants to understand why people think this way. Not everyone is trying to shill.
For real, though, it’s mostly about volume. Exchanges want that trading volume up, so they create competitions that favor big players.
I’m pretty sure that if you’re not trading at whale levels, you’ll get left behind in these contests. Even if you make the volume it feels like you’re just losing money.
Yeah, if you look at the recent competitions, you need massive volume to get anywhere. Like, who has the time or capital to hit those numbers?
Exactly. Just a couple of hundred bucks and you’re toast in most of these competitions. It’s like feeding a chicken to a shark.
If the competitions were based on percentage gains instead of sheer volume, that would shake things up. But nah, exchanges don’t wanna do that.
I once got into a comp with a $500 minimum. It felt impossible to make anything worthwhile. It’s all about who has the most to risk.
I feel like most of us can see why whales play this game better. They manipulate the market and always come out on top.
Not just that, but they can push prices around effortlessly. Retail traders just don’t have that power.
If they set a sell wall or something, they can control the market. It’s wild how much influence they have.

Why do you think exchanges make it so tough for small traders? It’s all about profits for them.
For sure! If they had fair rules, maybe more people would join, but they’re chasing whales.
I’d love to see a comp with a max limit, like $500. That would make it way more accessible.
Good luck with that. Exchanges would rather cater to big players who generate more volume.

Totally agree with you. The way these competitions are structured just pushes smaller traders out.
