Are QRNG chips the future of nonce generation in mining?

QRNG chips should definitely be in mining rigs for legit random nonce generation. I saw that ID Quantique sells them but idk how much they cost. Why aren’t they more common? Maybe it’s too pricey or not ready tech? Some say quantum-resistant methods make QRNG less useful, but who knows if they’ll really work against future quantum computers. Nonces should ideally come from true randomness.

Honestly, mining doesn’t really need QRNG. It’s all about making educated guesses to crack the hash. Now, if we’re talking encrypting data into a hash, that’s a different story and valid. Unless it's a mobile setup with power limits, standard TRNG circuits are good enough for most encryption they both give random outputs.

I bet some companies are definitely checking this out. We might see QRNG in the next-gen ASICs, you never know.

Yeah sure, educated guesses from algorithms based on classical physics. But it’s still tough to predict those guesses, right? What happens when tech advances further?

ASICs are just running through nonce ranges to get a share, there’s nothing random about that. The only random part is the nonce that actually generates a share based on the block header.

No chance. Mining is just: create a header, then try nonces from 0 to 2^32-1. Shuffling that order won’t change luck at all. You can’t pick nonces for better outcomes since you need to hash to find out, which is exactly what miners do.

Honestly anything more than just bumping the nonce would slow things down and mess with efficiency. Each chip cranks out nonces like 500 billion times a second. No room for messing around especially since, as Kano pointed out, there’s no real gain.
