Are Exchange Withdrawal Fees Outrageous?

So Ethereum recently updated and gas fees dropped a lot but some exchanges are still charging crazy amounts for withdrawals. Like bybit charging $4... Isn't that wild? Am I the only one bothered by this? It's just a total rip-off.

Not surprised honestly. Exchanges have been doing this forever. They raise fees when the network is congested but never lower them back when things calm down. Feels like they just want to profit off withdrawals.

Totally get where you're coming from. After the recent upgrades, gas fees on Ethereum are super low. But those withdrawal fees? Not on the network, that’s just the exchanges being greedy.

Exchanges are like gas stations. Prices drop from the suppliers but they still keep pump prices high. CEX will always charge high fees, it makes all the upgrades feel pointless unless you're using layer-2 DEX.

Right? They charge way more for withdrawals than they pay for transferring from their hot wallets. It’s like they’re trying to recover from that hack they had earlier this year.

Good note on the Fusaka upgrade, lowering layer-2 fees too. Lower fees on main network will definitely take time before exchanges adjust their own.

Each exchange is different. Bybit is pricey if you want cheaper withdrawals, move to layer-2 and bridge to layer-1. But be careful with slippage and bridge fees.

Exactly. We've got options like BSC for lower fees when withdrawing. But high fees won’t go away any time soon, it's a problem across all chains.

Cut Bybit out if you're tired of high fees! I left them for this reason and do fine with other exchanges like OKX and Binance.

Using OKX, I withdrew ETH for about $0.05 just a few days ago. Maybe Bybit needs to keep ETH withdrawals paused for a bit to figure things out.

Exactly! Bybit has some of the highest withdrawal fees compared to others. You can find much lower charges elsewhere. Just avoid Bybit.

Can’t blame them entirely; users do agree to their policies when signing up. I'm out of the loop on ETH updates, but if fees are finally low, it may just take exchanges time to catch up.

Eventually they will drop the fees, but they don’t prioritize that. It's all about keeping the whales happy while the average user suffers.

Bybit really hits you hard on ERC20 token withdrawals too. Why can't they just lower the fees like other exchanges do?

They're used to the high fees now. Everyone snoozes on complaints. $4 isn't as bad as past highs, but if you need funds quickly, you get it.

Anyone else notice that exchanges see withdrawals as their business model? Gotta keep people from pulling their funds out.

It’s like they’re a market with crypto as their products, but even DEXs have been getting more expensive lately.

Yeah, but high fees are sometimes justified; with the exchange handling bulk amounts, they must think they deserve that cash.

So true. But they also need to judge their risks better, especially considering their hacks... zero fees seem impossible.

Seriously, decentralized exchanges might be the way to go! No hidden charges and it feels better to avoid the greedy centralized ones.
