Why Stick to Old Versions of Core?

Been noticing a lot of folks still using older Core versions lately. Like this guy on 20.x and another on 23.x. Why are they not upgrading? It’s not like it’s rocket science. If you don’t update, you might end up with issues later... just sayin'.

Maybe they just don't keep up with the release notes. Some people probably don’t even know newer versions exist. I get that some might hesitate due to security concerns, but sticking to a version that’s years old just seems weird.

For real, it’s not like updating is as easy as clicking a button. You actually have to download it from the site, verify stuff, which can be a hassle. If it's working fine, why bother, right?

Exactly, and there’s the issue of old wallet files too. Some users don’t want to redownload the blockchain, but since version 0.17.0, wallet formats haven’t changed. So that shouldn't really hold them back.

For sure, a lot of the time devs fix bugs and people still run into them just because they haven’t updated. It’s frustrating, like the Electrum network change that messed up old clients. Tons of complaints.

LOL, I get that! I haven't updated my Electrum in ages either. I read the updates, and if they don’t really concern me, I see no reason to rush unless there’s a big security issue.

I keep it simple: when a new version drops, I check the release notes. If it's essential, I update. Otherwise, I wait and see how it’s received by others.

Man, updating multiple Trezors is a hassle! I gotta move coins around just to update them. So much work.

Why not just update? I remember switching from 0.17.0 to 0.21.1 and I had a bug afterward. If it ain't broke, why fix it?

Could be that some people are affected by their OS updates messing things up. Always check firewall settings to let Bitcoin Core through.
