Use the migration tool, but keep in mind it flips your wallet from non-HD to HD.

Just run Knots if you want to stick with old wallets. Bitcoin Core isn’t going back to the legacy format.

The descriptor wallet trade-off is between key security and convenience. It’s easier for regular folks to manage one seed phrase than a bunch of keys.
