Upgrading the SSD in Umbrel Bitcoin Machine

I’m wondering if anyone has swapped out the SSD in their Umbrel Bitcoin Machine? I know the standard ones come with 1TB or 2TB. Has anyone tried upgrading to a bigger SSD yet? Heard it’s pretty straightforward... just pop off the case and swap the drive.

found it. why bother upgrading the SSD on a Raspberry Pi? just get a decent PC from Lenovo or HP and run your node there. that’s way better. I cloned a 512GB to a 1TB in my Apollo node and it worked like a charm. my Apollo runs a regular node and even mines but has LN capability too.

I didn’t touch the pre-built one, but I did upgrade mine. Just removed the old SSD and used dd to clone it to the new larger drive. Then I resized the partitions using gparted. Always back up your LN and wallet, just in case. I mean, anything can go wrong when messing with drives. If you haven’t got funds in it, though, not a huge deal. Just means re-downloading everything again.

So if you’ve got a 2TB SSD, just replace the old one. Put the source drive in slot 1 and the new one in slot 2. It might take a bit, so make sure you back it up first. If you’re thinking of buying a new laptop, adding SSD to that should work too. Won’t mess with your mining speed but might affect boot time.

Thanks for the help, everyone! The Umbrel Bitcoin Machine is my second node, looks cool. I have the 1TB one and it’s at about 590GB used now. I know I’ll need to replace it eventually. Just wanted to see if anyone else has done it yet. My other node runs on a PC that should last longer.
