Looks like a new miner is here! Skot just dropped the bitaxeSupra, claiming it runs on the BM1368 chip. They say it can hit around 620 GH/s, with some images showing over 700 GH/s... pretty wild!

Can you even grab the BM 1368 chip anywhere?
From what Skot said, those chips are pretty fresh and currently only sold in packs of 324... not exactly convenient.

So, did they just swap the chip on their previous hardware? Are the pinouts the same? I can’t find any details about it on GitHub or their main site...

Zeusbtc has the chips but with a minimum of 10 orders. No price listed yet, but I’d guess around $40. Once the Chinese New Year wraps up, I can confirm, just hit me up.

Haha, that was skot9000 who joked about it! Turns out he got them straight from Bitmain, not Zeus.
Still, if it's $40, that’s on the pricey side but not impossible for hobbyists. If you buy the whole miner at 5K, the chip could end up costing around $15. Add some extras and you're looking at $70 total. It won't beat the S21 in ROI, but imagine if a million of these managed to compete.

Absolutely, millions and even hundreds of millions. To match current hash rates, we’d be talking about over 800 million chips. But if we could get more, especially higher wattage ones, that would change the game. We could actually decentralize like crazy!
Right? Imagine those big farms' reactions if half their hash rate came from devices that don’t care about energy costs!

Totally! A 25W node with two chips would be optimal but the price needs to be right. I’ve seen some units that get close to what’s needed.
This unit seems solid and efficient. If it used two chips instead of one, it’d be a big deal at a good price.
The Apollo is good, although its efficiency isn’t as high, and it’s pretty costly. Canaan has a cheap option too, but it's not as effective and lacks node capabilities.

If you could get a 2 chip 19W, 1TH miner with a node for around 400 bucks, that would hit the sweet spot!
But I don’t see that happening anytime soon.

Lol, Skot's joke was obvious. He meant you had to buy the full miner from Bitmain to get the chips, which doesn’t require much protection. But honestly, the cost per hash will be higher for these small miners. They’ll just end up being lottery machines.
I said true decentralization is possible, but it’s all hypothetical... Imagine if millions of these devices worked together, kinda like a torrent network.
