Understanding the Effort Metric in Mining Pools

So when you mine in a pool, you usually see stats like block height and difficulty. But I noticed some pools show this thing called "effort" as a percentage. Sometimes it’s over 100 like 1726%. What’s up with that?

From what I remember, effort is just a rough guess based on how long it took the pool to find the last block or blocks. Like if they found the last one in 2 hours and now it’s been an hour, that’s 50% effort. But if it takes 3 hours, it could be like 150%. Super basic math, but that’s the idea.

Which pool has this effort stat? Isn’t that more about shares? I did a little digging and it seems effort relates to the work put in, like, effort = endeavor. Kinda makes sense, right?
