Most people think dollars are money, but honestly, that’s not the case. Dollars are just fiat, and fiat currencies aren’t real money.

Check this out, the oldest paper receipt from money changers dates back to 1666. It’s like a banknote and is the oldest I’ve found.
You got it. Fiat isn’t real money, but can we ignore how crazy volatile Bitcoin is? I get the points, but we need those paper bills to buy stuff day to day.

Money is basically anything that can be exchanged for goods or services. Whether it’s gold, paper notes, or even Bitcoin, if two parties agree on its value, it’s money. But yeah, fiat can be manipulated by printing more.

People hype Bitcoin as if it's gonna replace gold, but what about volatility? It’s not gonna happen anytime soon. And honestly, we need fiat for everyday transactions, not gold or Bitcoin.
So money is a medium of exchange, right? It’s used for buying things and paying debts. Fiat works worldwide as legal tender, so it counts as money too. Bitcoin is also a form of money, but not as widely accepted.
It’s not that they forget about it; they choose to ignore it. As a Bitcoin holder, I get it, but I don’t think it’ll ever match gold’s market cap. Each has its own use cases.
Money is anything with value you can easily spend. Fiat is included, but it's artificially created by governments. Bitcoin and gold, on the other hand, have their prices determined by the market.
We’ve always relied on fiat for our needs; that’s a fact. It’s a form of control imposed by governments. Printing too much money leads to inflation, which devalues hard-earned cash.

Your post seems philosophical, but currencies are called money because they have value. The USD is money; it can buy goods based on its value. So, what's the point? Just get the currency and use it!
Honestly, I find defining money tricky. It evolves over time. Money is like a living thing that adapts to become easier to use. From gold coins to paper, it’s all about efficiency.

So the goal of those slips is to avoid carrying gold while still being able to pay for things, right? Many theories exist, but the purpose of money is being met.
That’s true, back in the day, bonds for gold were common until Nixon changed everything, letting the dollar float. Now we have fiat currencies enforced by law, and yes, gold and Bitcoin are harder forms of money.
That’s a pretty straightforward way to explain it. I don’t get why someone would say dollars aren’t money. Adam Smith said it’s a medium of exchange, so clearly, it is!

You’re onto something! It’s not fraud per se. Governments need control for various reasons. Sure, there are good and bad people, but they have to manage the economy somehow.

I can’t agree completely. Fiat didn’t just pop up overnight; there was a transition. Over time, paper became widely accepted, so it’s now seen as valid currency.
People are being tricked by fiat. We once used gold, but now we’re stuck with paper. It’s like modern slavery, and when we look to Bitcoin for freedom, the government pushes back.

Don’t confuse the issue. Money is a medium for trading goods and services. Even gold and Bitcoin require money to buy them.
Totally on board with your take on fiat. It was supposed to make transactions easier, but it’s become a means to rob us of purchasing power over time. Inflation just makes it worse.
So those slips of paper are to avoid carrying heavy gold, right? No matter the theories, they serve their purpose. Even if you think dollars are scams, you’d take them if offered!
