Not a miner, just a trader here lol. I don’t know much about mining tech, but I saw this piece about Microbt’s new miner with a 1X efficiency rating. Thought I’d drop it here and see what you all think. What’s the buzz in the mining world about this?

What are you expecting exactly? If miners find gear that's more efficient, they'll buy it. It’s simple supply and demand. And if they’ve got good customer support, that would be a huge plus too. But if they boast wild claims like a 250% profit increase, good luck getting anyone to take them seriously.

Right? Miners won't rush to switch to new ASICs until they've got everything figured out, like repairs and parts. Most are still rocking the S19 series at like 100-150 terahash, which are pretty easy to fix.

If you’re investing in Bitcoin, watch out for shady info. That bitcoin.com site tends to spread misleading stuff and mixes up BCH with BTC sometimes. It’s important to investigate stuff before believing it. Just because something is proposed doesn’t mean it’ll actually work once out in the real world. Changes in mining tech usually take a lot of testing.

I got a solid energy deal and tend to upgrade gradually. I still have some s17s, but I’m going for more s19s and even some s19 xps soon. Thinking of testing the s21 with 15-16 watts per th. In 2024, I’ll decide if I’ll grab the new Whatsminers or stick with Antminer s21s.

Word is Antminer S21 (200Th) has been teased, but looks like most won’t get their hands on it until after the halving in April 2024. Some might test it out sooner though. Why the hold-up from Bitmain? Are they trying to wait for Bitcoin prices to spike before selling at a premium?

Crazy, right? That x1 efficiency rating had me shaking my head. But once they launch, I bet institutions will snap them up fast. And once they’re sold out, expect the difficulty to shoot up and Microbt to offer even better miners.
