Came across something interesting about Taro recently. Saw Micheal Saylor hype it at a conference. What's everyone think about this? Could it really mean the end for stablecoins on other chains?
Surprised too that no one’s talked about this yet. Appreciate you bringing it up. I read about NFTs being part of it too, but I’m not really technical. Is this actually a big deal?
So I checked out the link, looks like they’re adding stablecoins to Lightning which is cool. But didn’t OMNI Layer do this too? More competition is always good, but we need more everyday users.
Yeah, you’re spot on about Tether on Lightning earlier this year. RGB and Taro are definitely more versatile than OmniBOLT, though. OmniBOLT just lets issuers control tokens, which is risky. Taro might make smart contracts easier.
You know, I’m not super deep into any of this, but if Taro’s more complex like you say, it could bring more bugs. And algorithmic stablecoins can be dicey. Isn’t the whole point to reduce reliance on altcoins and fees?
I’ve got a serious distrust of Lightning Labs. Looks like they’re not doing enough to scale LND properly. Plus, they keep important ideas from others. VC funding gives me pause too.
The RGB community’s reactions are all over the place. They realized their specs weren’t ready. LL has a much clearer version now, but cooperation is key if they want to make it work.
But seriously, am I the only one confused about the purpose of Taro and RGB? If I’m making a wallet, why not just pull fiat rates from an exchange instead?
TARO and RGB are about evolving Bitcoin while keeping the base layer intact. So much research and testing happening now, far beyond what’s going on with altcoins.
