Anyone got thoughts on Compass Mining? I heard they handle miners for you, just pay a monthly fee. Curious if it’s worth it.
Thanks, Malc
Thoughts on Compass Mining?

Compass Mining? Never heard of them tbh. I looked them up and got directed to compassmining.io. Is that what you mean? Their site seems sketchy, mostly newbies talking about them. Not sure if they’re legit or a scam.
Plus, it looks like they sell mining hardware, not really offering hosting directly but using partners. Feels risky to trust them without any solid proof.
What do y’all think?

They are legit. Honestly, the only big player left after all the chaos in the industry. They were in the news a while back for their IRA plans. But yeah, they’ve had their fair share of issues too, like that Russian data center mess and problems with Prime Trust. Always in hot water but still here.
Just because they’re legit doesn’t mean it’s gonna be profitable. You gotta be careful.
Wait did you see my post from last year? Must have slipped by you. Anyway, I’d say hosting miners elsewhere can be a big risk. Prices are usually crazy high and you won’t actually own the gear. Seriously, read those hosting contracts twice gonna save you a headache later.

Late to the conversation but here’s a thought. If you can’t host your miners at home, maybe look for a local data center instead? Some are willing to sublet extra cabinet space at a decent price.
Seems like a good way to go less hassle for them, and you get what you need without breaking the bank.
