Tether to Launch USDT on RGB: What It Means for Bitcoin

Tether just dropped news they’re gonna issue USDT using the RGB protocol. This means we might see stablecoins directly on Bitcoin.

I never heard about RGB until now. Looks like it’s some Layer 2 with zero-knowledge proofs or something. Anyone got more deets?

Your last point doesn’t really hold up. Tether has a way to blacklist tokens when they need to. RGB just adds another layer on top of the Lightning network. They can definitely censor or freeze at that level.

Been waiting for updates on Lightning Network forever. If this works, it could really cut down on fees and volatility. Sure, it’ll have challenges but I believe it’ll improve over time. Just imagine the possibilities!

Honestly, Tether started with Bitcoin on Omni Layer. They’ve just expanded since then because you can’t enforce scripts on Bitcoin directly. So, really, they’re not bringing anything new to the table. It’s not truly native to Bitcoin.
