Tether is all about using green energy for Bitcoin mining! They say their operations in Uruguay are a big deal for the future of finance. Pretty cool if it helps secure the network, right?

Uruguay’s nice for that. They get most of their power from hydro. But they’re a small country, so their production capacity isn’t huge, like way under Iceland. Only a 40MW plant planned by Tether, which isn’t much when you think about it.
Wait, they only have like 1.5 GW from hydro? They claim 98% of energy is renewable, but idk if that really helps anyone in the long run. Those numbers seem great for PR but not for solid Bitcoin mining.

Exactly! Average rates don’t really mean anything. I looked at US prices, and they're way higher than what they’re quoting for Uruguay. Just because it's cheap for households doesn’t mean miners will get those rates.
Hydroelectric has always been cheaper compared to solar and wind. But honestly, if they get a contract for 40 MW, wouldn’t it make more sense to stick with that for mining instead of relying on fluctuating sources?

I’m kinda new to all this but I think solar isn’t as reliable as it sounds. Weather can mess up everything, so it’s not dependable when you need power. That’s why hydro seems better to me.
