Tether is bringing USDT back to Bitcoin. They're rolling it out on the RGB protocol v0.11.1, with UTEXO handling the launch. This means USDT can be sent and received directly between Bitcoin wallets. It could go live as soon as July, which is exciting for us OGs.

Not sure about that... They’ve been working on this for a while now. Tether seems to be really into RGB and Taproot assets. Honestly, compared to Circle, Tether feels way more pro-Bitcoin, even if they are centralized.

I think it’s a good move. I liked the Omni layer but didn’t use it much because it wasn’t supported by many exchanges back then.

Yeah, but I doubt this changes any EU licensing stuff. If Tether can implement RGB v0.11.1 successfully, it’s not gonna alter the regulations they face.

I’m curious how this will actually work out. So far, Tether's been good at innovating. They’re even working on a layer 1 blockchain, so I really hope this isn’t just a rumor.

Why do people keep wanting Tether to fail? I’ve been in crypto long enough to see the same FUD every year. I was talking to a friend who claimed USDT was losing value because it hit $0.99. Seriously? How is that even a problem?

Wow, finally this is happening. If Tether can’t restrict USDT on RGB, then users in the EU might be in the clear. Maybe they foresaw issues coming with EU regulations.

From what I understand, in RGB, Tether can set up the token rights from the get-go. They could easily make it so they can blacklist addresses. I don’t see them passing up that opportunity.
