Szabo's Endorsement of Knots Over Core v30 Sparks Debate

Wow, didn't see that coming. Luke got some backup from one of the OGs. Some folks still think Nick Szabo might be Satoshi, lol.

I honestly thought running Knots was pointless. What's the deal with Szabo? Doesn't he realize that?

a) Clearly, it makes a difference, or he wouldn't be pushing it. b) Or maybe he has no clue what he's talking about.

Man, I miss the days when bitcoin was all about freedom and sticking it to the government. Now we're just worried about how Core 30 might tick off regulators.

Can someone with legal background explain why it matters if the data is continuous or in chunks? Seems kinda irrelevant to me.

Why did Szabo even ditch BTC before? I can’t recall. Found an article from 2015 where he was against Bitcoin XT's block size increase. Guess he’s had some strong opinions.

Honestly, don’t care if it’s the real Szabo or just some verified account. Still confused why he's endorsing Knots. It sounds like it filters out legit transactions.

I get the point about limiting spam from OP_RETURN, but spammers adapt quickly. They can still use fake Pubkeys with Taproot.

Wait, Nick Szabo? The Ethereum guy? Why should anyone care about his opinion? That project has its own issues with censorship.

Reread the threads about OP_RETURN. Running Knots or not doesn’t really change much.

Running a different node is just a statement. If miners decide to ignore certain rules, tough luck for us.

Szabo's opinion is just that his opinion. You don’t have to take it as gospel. But, like usual, he raises some interesting points.

I like Szabo he usually knows his stuff. Hard to believe he'd be bribed to promote Knots, though.

From a legal standpoint, I think Szabo believes nodes have less responsibility if they don’t propagate certain data. But does that really change anything?

Coins are valid regardless of how they’re created. Future soft forks can play around with spending conditions.

Seems like the core debate is about default settings on nodes. Knots won’t accept certain valid transactions, which is a big deal.

For real, it’s hard to trust anyone these days. Opinions change, especially with Szabo's age maybe he’s just more vocal now.

True, but if everyone used Knots, transaction relays would be affected. Miners will still include whatever they want.

You’re saying Knots doesn’t block transactions? But if miners choose to include it, that’s a separate issue.
