Hey all, I’m curious if anyone’s managed to access their S19 miners via SSH. I heard you can solo mine by adding btc-address in /etc/init.d, similar to older models. Anyone got tips or tricks for this?

Caution here... the risk of orphaned blocks is way higher. You could end up with no BTC for your efforts. Setting up a solid network of bitcoin nodes is key if you actually want to find blocks.

That post is super old, man. Solo mining with your own node isn’t really a smart move anymore. Unless you’re doing it to help decentralize mining (which honestly, not sure how much that helps), or it’s for research, just join a solo pool. A small fee of 1% is worth it to avoid the hassle of managing your own setup.

Thanks for the insights! I’ve got a few wallets, so sharing my node isn’t a big deal. I quoted that old post just to show how easy the fix can be. Pool mining asks for a username via stratum and pays out to the wallet linked to it. If I can just input my wallet address, I’m golden! I get that mining is tough now, but my friends and I want to try out this mini pool.

Not sure your math here. 2.5PH is decent, but in the grand scheme of mining, it’s really not much. Your odds of hitting a block are still super slim. Honestly, this feels more like gambling than anything else. Unless someone figures out how to hack those S19s, it’s a long shot.
