If I turn off my mining setup that has like 1000 S19 miners, how long till the hash rate goes back to normal when I start them again? Like, if I'm only mining for 10 mins each hour, what will that do to my machines? 10 mins on, then off... how long till they stabilize? Also, how much power would I save if I shut 'em down completely instead of this? Asking for a friend... lol.

It's not quite straightforward. First off, the miners need to warm up before they hit max hash rate. Timing can vary a lot depending on models and firmware, anywhere from 1 to 60 minutes. Then there's the pool stability, which can take 5 to 10 mins or even more, depending on the pool's settings and whether there's a proxy involved.

I get what you're saying, but you gotta be careful. Running your miners like that can risk damaging your hardware. Instead, why not power them on for just a few days a month? You could still rack up the same shares without all that hassle, plus way less risk. Just keep a steady 10% of the S19s running 24/7.

For sure, different models vary a lot! I’ve got a couple of miners from the same batch that take longer than others. Stock firmware is usually slower compared to custom ones. As for fees, yes, Antminer has a fee structure, but calling it ‘stealing’ is a stretch. They disclose that info up front, it’s part of the deal.

What happens if I just stop mining but don’t shut down? Does that change anything?

You might be talking about sleep mode, right? Even then, the miner still uses some power because the fans run at a lower speed. Honestly, if you’ve got free power during the day and want to avoid high bills at night, that could be a good reason to keep them in sleep.

Honestly, this goes a lot deeper than it seems... sounds like a solo mining adventure waiting to happen.
