Hey all, I'm just getting into Bitcoin mining and have no clue about the equipment needed. Could someone help clear up some questions I have? I'm looking at Antminers and WhatsMiners... Are Antminers only for BTC and BTH? What else can these machines mine?

Welcome! You should check out the Beginners & Help section here. Just so you know, all BTC miners work with ASICs. Those chips are made to do one thing only process the SHA-256 algorithm. You can mine any coin that uses that algorithm for sure.

True, Antminers mostly handle SHA-256, but they’ve got some different models for other algorithms too. WhatsMiner, on the other hand, is strictly SHA-256. And no, you can’t really change the algorithms on these machines. They come with their own OS already.

If you're curious about specifics, check the manufacturers’ websites for all your questions. Great resources there. Also, there’s plenty of tutorial videos on YouTube breaking down each ASIC. Just search for them.
