So Bitcoin was originally meant to let us all be our own banks, right? Yet, a ton of people still throw their coins on centralized exchanges for the ease of it. We've seen so many exchanges flop due to hacks or bad management, and users end up losing a lot.
Yeah, best bet is to keep your coins in a noncustodial wallet. But then there's traders who can’t be bothered to move funds daily. What if a hack hits while they’re in the middle of trading? I’d prefer exchanges with SAFU, but honestly, I don’t fully trust it. If only governments would set regulations to protect us better…
Regulations are in place already. Centralized exchanges follow AML and CFT laws, but that won't stop hacks. They really need to invest in better security, but many just don’t. If you’re using a custodial service, know the risks and be ready to face the consequences if things go south.
Stricter protections mean more verification and higher fees. But who really benefits? The law won’t shield everyone equally, and I doubt people will change their habits just ‘cause of some so-called stronger protections.
Doesn't matter how strict the rules are, they won't stop exchanges from getting hacked or collapsing. Sure, tighter rules could prevent some dirty money from entering crypto, but we’ve seen big players like Binance facing issues too. Just because a service is compliant doesn’t make your funds safe.
Funny how a few years back, the government was anti-Bitcoin, and now they want in. And folks here are saying we should give them more control? Maybe they forgot Bitcoin's whole deal was about being our own bank, free from government overreach.
I agree on the government’s negligence. But honestly, it feels like they’re hinting that users should take charge of their own coins. Storing coins on exchanges is risky. If laws come in, people might get too comfy. Non-custodial wallets are the way to go; you control your funds with no hassle.
