You’re kinda late to the party. There’s been chatter about this for like two weeks already. Just check out the other thread regarding nuclear-powered mining.
I don’t think nukes for Bitcoin mining are practical. There are so many regulations around nuclear power that only governments can really green-light this. Sure, it could be a sustainable source, but the operational costs would be insane with all that monitoring.
Exactly, no one can just use nuclear energy as they please. You need government approval and let’s be real, they hardly hand that out. It’s also super pricey. Those alternatives you suggested? Valid points, but it really depends on where you are and what resources are available.

Energy is energy, man. "Clean" energy just means you’re paying for equipment upfront. How many solar panels or wind turbines would it take to run a mining operation like this? A ton, right? And then there’s maintenance and space issues... with nuclear, you just plug it in and go.

It’s not that simple though. Getting a nuclear power plant up and running requires way more than just local permission. International approvals are a must, and nobody's gonna sign off on that without a massive headache. Plus, no people should be living near those plants.
Oh come on, you really think we can’t get international approval? While the world has issues, nuclear safety is a big deal. If nuclear plants are managed properly, they can be safe. Many power sources carry risks.

There’s actually an international body that regulates nuclear reactors, and they have pretty strict guidelines. Countries usually follow these rules because if one reactor has issues, it can affect a lot of others.
You’ve got a real misunderstanding of what the IAEA actually does. It’s more of a research hub than a licensing body. They compile data and best practices but can’t enforce anything. Nations do what they want, and that’s worrying.
True, the IAEA isn’t a licensing authority but it pushes for safe practices. Countries will likely comply to avoid disasters like Chernobyl. But hey, the plant is operational now, Bitcoin is being mined, and people seem happy with this.
