Need Help with CGMiner After Hardware Changes

Just put in a new GPU, and now cgminer is saying "All devices disabled, cannot mine!" I'm on Windows 64bit. Any advice?

Did you check out the CGMiner thread here? Lots of people can help you there.

This isn’t really a cgminer issue. Looks like it’s more about Windows. Go to Computer -> Manage -> Devices -> Display Adapters, and check everything out. Windows usually follows the same steps every time. If one setup isn’t working, move to the next. And don’t forget to try rebooting, switch the cards around, and ensure everything is powered up.

Thanks for the tips! I tried reinstalling the drivers, but no luck. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled them... still got the same problem. Finally, I did a clean Windows install and everything started working!

Totally overkill to do a Windows reinstall. I bet you didn’t fully uninstall the drivers. Try something like Driver Sweeper next time.

I kinda agree with you. Never used a sweeper myself, but I do run the full install multiple times and it usually works. Get those GPUs running, lower the voltage, and keep them stable.

I didn't want to start a new thread. This one seems to cover all CGMiner issues. I was restarting my 5 compac f miners and 2 r909s today, executed the./cgminer command, and got an error. Nothing changed on my rpi4, and I have cgminer version 4.12.1. Any ideas?

Wow, 11-year-old thread bump. That’s a record for sure. Run lsusb and check what devices show up, and did you reboot your Pi? Also, power cycle those USB hubs that your miners are plugged into.

Lol, why start a new thread when I found this one already? Of the 3 USB ports, the mouse only doesn't respond on the USB 3.0 port; hard drive is in the second blue port.

Not exactly the same issue, but you should at least see something like this when devices are attached. If nothing shows, check cables and connections. If the mouse doesn’t respond, it’s probably the USB ports. Can you plug the miners into another device to check?

Does your USB hub have its own power supply? If it’s not giving enough power, try running each miner separately. Also connect the hub to USB2, not USB3. If it still doesn’t work, you might need to reinstall everything on your RPi.

Hey everyone, I found the right thread! I’m trying to mine testnet btc with cgminer but keep hitting errors. One of them says Fatal JSON error, and another needs at least one pool server specified. I’m using an AMD 550 GPU with cgminer 3.7.2. Can anyone share a sample config? I’ve got a testnet full node.

There’s NO GPU mining in cgminer. You might want to check the setup for ASIC only.

If it shows no miners, check the following: your hub might be dead, no power to the hub, miners could be dead, or you forgot to connect the cable. Even your RPi might be faulty or the hub cable could be bad.

Lol, guess what? I found the problem... No miner, no cable, no hardware was broken. I just wasn’t logged in as an admin. Once I activated su, all 8 miners fired up like a charm.

Still seems odd to resurrect a decade-old thread instead of posting in the right support section.

Okay, but how do you actually get cgminer working?

You can get it from Kano's GitHub, read the README, and configure it to point at a supported ASIC miner.
